Sunday, June 9th Birds From a Distance

The photos aren't great because the birds were pretty far away, but during this morning's bird walk we got to see an Alder Flycatcher, a Phoebe Flycatcher, a male and female Hairy Woodpecker, a few Cedar Waxwings, and many other birds, to total 28 different species.

Female Hairy Woodpecker just emerged from her tiny nest in the hole of the tree.  She's a little ruffled!

Friday, June 7th Paul VanDeMark

We went to his memorial service today.  This photo was taken last year, of Paul in his boat, hobbling back home with engine trouble. And what you don't see is Don and Bill Samuelson, running circles around him in their boats, kidding him.  He was a great friend.  We'll miss him.
